The regional group of A4E members in Europe has gathered a group of interested participants and discussed initiatives, which have taken place at various institutes or were organized as part of international groups and organizations.
Related to this, we have re-started discussing the biggest astronomical meeting in Europe, the EAS annual meeting. In order to have a fruitful discussion, we have invited members of the EAS sustainability committee to our monthly meetings and have, subsequently, also met with them at a targeted meeting. These encounters have led to the beginning of a collaboration and the proposal for A4E to become a candidate host of EAS 2027 as a fully online meeting.
The monthly meetings of Region Europe are on the last Tuesday of the month at 4 pm European time. In the last meeting on 26th November 2024 the CHEOPS green committee reported on their activities within the consortium and how they planned the location of gatherings.
In August 2026 Northern Spain will see a total eclipse (and in fact another total and an annular one in the two subsequent years). Discussions have started in the European regional group to organize an event celebrating this cosmic coincidence – and connecting it with our message. Come join our meetings and be part of the planning!
